Using an agency to find teaching jobs
Posted on June 23, 2020 at 8:02 pm
If you are trying to secure a position as a teacher in a primary school it may be worth looking at agency work either as a stop gap until you are offered a full time post or as a way of building up your teaching experience.
There are many advantages to using an agency the foremost being that the agency source the work for you saving you the unenviable task of completing endless application forms and attending stressful interviews. When you approach the agency in your search for teaching work you will have to complete their application form and usually be interviewed initially but then the agency will carry out all the necessary safeguarding checks and will discuss with you your preferred age group to teach and when you are available for work. It is wise to be as flexible as possible about these issues as you will then be offered more work.
One of the disadvantages of working for a teaching agency is the pay as it will be less than if you worked directly for the local authority however the advantages of being able to choose when you are available for work and the minimal paperwork that you will be required to complete after a day’s teaching far outweigh this.
